Imperial Fleet Light Cruiser, Balistia by Waffle0708 Imperial Fleet Light Cruiser, Balistia by Waffle0708
Main force of Imperial aerial fleet. This vessel has well balanced armament, cruising range and mobility.
But of course it will be destroyed and sunk for main casts. This is what background ships are.
-Anti ground muitiple rocket launcher
-Anti air guns
-7 inch main gun
-5.5 inch cannons

Every Fabruary I draw a picture spending full of my drawing skill to verify my current skill. Last Fabruary's one ->
I am satisfied with the improvement. What kind of drawing will I draw next February?? :)

Thank you! This is one of the most creative drawing in my drawing history.
The idea(in this case, inspiration) of this design just came out to my brain. I always try to create new design but it doesn't come, it comes when we are not trying to create design.

I think to keep drawing same concept thing would help us to create new design. I kept drawing this kind of stuff for 2 years. :)
also reading&watching concept arts and old and new movie is one of the best material for designing!
Best thing will be produced by one who know the taste of best thing.

I love the way the eye doesn't automatically slide off of the vehicle - all parts of it are equally interesting!

Wait, how is that flag flying? Judging by the shape of the rudder, the position of what I think are the engine and the bridge, and the overall aerodynamics, shouldn't the banner be blowing in the other direction?

well in my opinion, this is what Sci-Fi is.
Sci-Fi often ignores physics. the reason why I add the flag is just; it looks cool :D
In my drawing, flags on the ship is important factor. anyway thanks for giving interesting opnion about this art, i am happy to hear.

Oh, don't get me wrong. "It looks cool" is as good an explanation as any other. I just wanted to know.

Awesome pic, anyway. Favorited quite a while ago, just didn't notice the flag until now. Great job.

What a strange design - I love it! You're work sure tickles my "Miyazaki zone"! :) But there's also the flavor of "Last Exile" here in design and theme.

I like your idea of doing an annual drawing to rate the full measure of your skills! Clever. So what do you see as improvements in the lat year? The artist always sees things that the viewer overlooks ;)

I am appreciated to hear so.

let me see, the improvements are...
All in all, detailed drawing has improved, like background and ship itself.
I spent more time for creating new design and it gave me various shapes for new ships.
Through the activity I learned more about historical, technical knowledge about ships and planes, it also gained my skill.

Lastly, I started "Flight Glide Project" last year that is based on my drawing and I needed to create 3 exotic ships that belong to each 3 countries, it polish upped the entire design.

btw, I always try to make my art looks extic by using unreal letters and ethnic arts, this is because I had been to NewZealand for a year to study English.
First experience of living in differ culture, language and the art of Native Maori people, all things I saw was really vivid, the feeling I got there is still in my bottom of creative mind. :)
Oh, sorry for long long reply! Finally thanks again for your comment!

HA! No need to apologize for a long reply. More info is better, as far as I'm concerned. And I'm always impressed when someone does so in a language that is not native to them! It's good to hear that you're continually challenging yourself. Doing work that's "outside your comfort zone" is a great way to learn new skills and refine existing ones. I wish I did that more!!! ;p

Your work continues to impress and inspire me. It's really beautiful stuff.

Glad to hear it! :D I should offer more constructive comments: The lighting and color here are really great. Helps to bring out the ship's form. We can't see the sun, but can tell it's low in the sky because of the quality of light reflecting off the ship's body, and that brilliant golden glare on the glass. Love that.

Also, good balance between areas of crisp detail, and areas of more whispy washy color. Gives a sense of depth, and atmospheric perspective.

Glad to hear opinion of it, Arigato!
Japanese people are very shy so they don't give us comment, what they do is saying "great" and "on the other hand my one is rubbish".
I feel I am happy to be a deviantartist!

I know what you mean about the shyness. Sometimes people also just don't have too much too say, here as well.
"Great" is good to hear, but not always the most helpful or constructive if you're concerned about developing skill.
Thankfully, DA has an option on the upload screen which helps you request meaningful comments.

But then, a lot of professional aren't interested in comments at all. And they're right. Their skills are already perfect.

Others appreciate a confidence boost. IMO, we are here to help each other!

In my opinion, the closest way to improve the skill is see and learn from many arts and try to copy it.
I know we do want to do original thing, not copying. but trying to copy down other art will give us oppotunities to find new skill. :)
